One of my favourite things to do and something I've done for as long as I can remember is a mother daughter shopping day trip. Like mother like daughter, we both are big bargain hunters and we love to browse the shelves to see what deals we can find. With a wide range of stores available, our most loved ones at Birstall Shopping Park near Leeds is TK Maxx, neighbouring Homesense (p.s. it's the best one I've ever been too!) and Ikea. We also tend to make a mid-morning pitstop at the Costa Coffee in Next before eyeing up their Next Home section! So we spent a few hours shopping for Christmas gifts and I wanted to share with you the items that stood out to me most to hopefully give you a little inspiration into what's available and what you may want to buy for your loved ones this year!

Starting with Homesense (as we always do!) the two storey store has so much on offer and with the ease of being able to park your car right outside, if you're on the hunt for bigger pieces of furniture, including their sofas, dining tables, mirrors, artwork and more, provided you have the space in your vehicle you can drive away with it that same day with ease!

We then move onto a larger section of Birstall Shopping Park where we usually start in Next Home and fuel up on coffee at the Costa in store. Next Home is adjoining to the fashion department too so there are plenty of items to shop here. Perhaps you're after Christmas PJs, slippers, dressing gowns, or Christmas home decor for yourself, there is so much choice. My personal favourite area to shop in Next Home is the home scents and fragrance!

Next, a Wilko pitstop (usually to stock up on cleaning products and other household items). I had a quick browse at their Christmas gifts on offer before heading on to Boots. For all your beauty buys, Boots is great when they run their 3 for 2 on all Christmas gift sets. However I had noticed that some of the bestsellers were a little lower on stock levels so you'll have to be quick! If you work full time and worry about what time shops are open until, Birstall Shopping Park is now open for late night shopping to customers in the lead up to the big day! For a full list of each stores opening times click here.

Birstall Shopping Park spoil their customers with not only a double storey Next, but also a double storey TK Maxx! So we can't resist a quick check within the homeware department in particular and I also felt there is far more choice when it comes to family friendly gifts. From games to fragrance, jewellery to fashion, it's well worth making a visit to both sister companies when on the hunt for Christmas gifts!

Last but certainly not least...IKEA! Tip one...a trolley is an essential, and tip two, you mustn't leave without having the Swedish meatballs for your lunch. I always opt for chips with it and mum insists on mash...what do you prefer? Although perhaps a little less 'festive' Ikea had a few additional sparkly touches here and there but ultimately we always pop over there for two things... the meatballs (and yes I realise this is now the second time I've referenced them #obsessed) and two, increasing the step count! Ikea isn't for the faint hearted, we like to see it as a steady workout, getting in a few extras steps, up and down testing out every piece of furniture, and ending on weights when reaching the final stretch before the tills to source out all your flat pack boxed up items. I realise those who have never been to Ikea will be struggling to understand me right now, but equally I struggle to understand how anyone could never have ever stepped foot in an Ikea!

Ending on a Starbucks pitstop and grabbing a coffee for the road, I make my journey home (p.s. avoid rush hour!). For more gift guides and ideas for Christmas, head over to my Youtube channel where I have featured gift guides for him, for her, luxury and budget. But remember, time is the best gift you can give for Christmas this year. Time spent with loved ones, playing family games, perhaps even booking a trip away! In between all the time you offer, I hope you have found inspiration for what you may want to buy this year.
