The Four Essential Styles All Students Need

Hey hey, it's that time of the year when a lot of people are getting anxious for their next big university venture! Whether you're headed to a big city or a camper university in the middle of nowhere, I've teamed up with to bring you my 4 essential styles that I believe every student will need throughout their time at university.

S T Y L E  o n e

I like to call this look the Hangover look. A casual and comfy yet still stylish outfit will be a regular look. Be prepared for a few mornings with a sore head from the night before and comfort will be your saviour. You can shop this look here:

PLT Black Lace Up Joggers £20 -
PLT White Lace Up Crop Top £15 -
PLT Black & White Crop Knit Jumper £10 -

S T Y L E  t w o

I like to refer to this look as the everyday uni outfit - effortlessly chic all whilst remaining comfortable. Layers are essential with some lecture rooms being warmer than others and of course weather dependant, lots of layers will help. I love these comfortable striped trousers, and paired with a linen shirt you can't go wrong. Throw on a distressed denim jacket and you're good to go! You can shop this look here:

PLT Black Distressed Denim Jacket £45 -
PLT Striped Casual Trousers £20 -
PLT White Oversized Casual Shirt £18 -

S T Y L E  t h r e e

I'd say the third look is your game face outfit. There will be occasions when comfort isn't quite appropriate enough. Perhaps you're off to an interview for a part time job to fund your nights out, or maybe you have a big presentation in the morning. Throw on an all black outfit like this and you're sure to impress. You can shop this look here:

PLT Black Roll Neck Bodysuit £12 -
PLT Black Casual Culottes - £15

S T Y L E  f o u r

Last but not least, you need plenty of 'night on the town' outfits and this LBD is the perfect fit. By opting for a simple black outfit, you can wear this dress over and over and at just £15, it's great value for money. I've teamed it with a faux suede lightweight jacket for when those temperatures drop at night and you can get this look for yourself here:

PLT Black Mini Dress £15 -
PLT Grey Faux Suede Jacket £35 -

Accessorising Your Way To A More Stylish AW17 Wardrobe

Autumn is just around the corner. In just a few weeks time the leaves will begin to turn that gorgeous shade of burnt orange, Starbucks will start stocking their famous pumpkin spiced lattes, and autumn fashion will come into play.

If you are somewhat of a fashionista who always likes to ensure that they stay on trend, then you most probably have a wardrobe packed full of beautiful clothes from the last season or two that you have only worn once or twice. Instead of tossing them out with the rubbish, accessorise them up and transform them into chic AW17 pieces.

The fact is that styles don’t change that much over just a few months, and so it’s easy to bring pieces from the previous season up to date with a couple of well thought out accessories, while still keeping your look modern and minimalist. For a little AW17 stylespiration (do you like what I’ve done there ;), then just read on!

Invest in a red-toned bag

If you know me, you know how much I avoid colours and I naturally opt for neutrals and monochrome all the time. However when it comes to colour, I feel autumn is a great season to break from my comfort zone with earthy tones like olive, khaki, burnt orange and Bordeaux red. For AW17, red is the colour of the season, which means that you must, must, must invest in something red to tie each of your outfits together, and what better accessory than a red bag? Whether it is a handbag, satchel, or clutch, it doesn’t matter, all that matters is that you get your hands on a stylish red-toned bag. However if a red bag is a little far from your sense of style, then how about a classic pair of red heels then.

Treat yourself to some new pieces of jewellery

To accessorise any look, jewellery is key. Whether that is costume jewellery - aka pieces from the high street - or more minimal pieces with more value and meaning (much more me), it doesn’t matter. The important thing is that you have a few pretty pieces to team with different looks to help add that little touch of additional style. If like me, you're not normally a big fan of jewellery, then why not have a piece of custom made jewellery created for you? That way you can ensure that you will like the piece and will want to wear it.

Swap your flats for heels

One simple way to add a little extra style to your look is to swap your flats for heels. Heels elevate a look, both physically and literally. A pair of heels instantly makes an outfit look more stylish and more sophisticated, as well as significantly more on trend. A favourite, and more importantly comfortable transition for me, is with the addition of heeled over the knee suede boots.

Pick out some eye-catching tights

This coming season, tights are big business - they are set to transform from an accessory into a style statement. So if you want to bring your wardrobe up to the next level, investing in a few stylish pairs of tights - ideally, bright coloured and patterned - could be the answer.

Want to accessorise your way to a more stylish wardrobe for AW17? Take note of the inspiration above, and you can add additional style to your wardrobe, allowing you to create a range of on-trend looks this coming season.

I was so excited to share today's post with you which includes lots of goodies I recently found at Poundland! Anyone who knows me knows that I am a big bargain hunter. I love shopping the sales, I also love shops like T K Maxx and Homesense and it appears I am now also a fan of Poundland! So I created this video to perhaps give you a few ideas you may not have initially thought of. Let me know if you have any other ideas yourself or what bargains you may have picked up from Poundland!

How I Crop My Tops

I recently posted a quick and easy video tutorial on how I crop my tops. I use the same method for tops and hoodies and I have even cut jeans into shorts in a similar way. It couldn't be easier. I simply measure, lightly score and cut straight across. The trick to the best finish in my opinion it to stitch the edges of where you cut until the cut itself merges into the top. Shake it and even run it through a quick wash and there you have the perfectly cut crop top! If you want to see the video and a step by step process, click here and let me know your thoughts! Are there any other DIY style videos you'd like to see, simply let me know in the comments below!

Student Tips, eBay haul & GIVEAWAY!

As well as writing about what I love and loathe, I recently started thinking more about you guys, my readers and perhaps what you might also like to read. Having the majority of my followers categorised as females and between the ages of 18-24, I figured I could maybe share my student university life experiences with you as it may be relevant to a lot of you. So I have compiled a list of my top three useful tips for those students of you out there and combined it with a little giveaway as I know how much students love a freebie!

T I P  O N E - D O N T  F E A R  C L E A R I N G

Didn't quite make your grades, or perhaps you're worried you won't, I too had to endure the process of clearing and let me tell you, it really wasn't that bad! I didn't quite make the grades I needed and called around a few universities including Northumbria, Salford, UEA, and even Hull which was one of my original 5. All were very helpful in finding a solution for me and in the end it was Salford's location being a stones throw from the heart of the city my father grew up in, Manchester. I lined up a great job at Manchester United football club and ended up having the best time of my life! I must say, Northumbria University was another close choice, with similar prospects and they were also incredibly helpful during the entire clearing processIndividual universities will often have a dedicated Clearing webpage and some, like Northumbria, even have a Clearing app you can download so you’re kept up to date in the run up to Clearing and on the day – just search Clearing Guide 2017 in the App Store. If you find yourself in a similar situation, you can apply for any subject, not necessarily the original subject you had in mind via the UCAS website. I would highly recommend calling up as it can get competitive to secure places in some of these bigger cities like Newcastle and Manchester.

Another tip of mine would be to fully immerse yourself into the student life choice known as...Freshers Week! Let me firstly mention, ours was in fact two full weeks of freshers and it's tough to keep going out most nights but it's where you form friendships and get to know those that you will probably, (a) choose to live with second year, and (b) form life long friendships that you may not have done having not attended Freshers Week.

Now I personally, was a bit of a party animal and being based in a city like Manchester, I liked to get quite glam. I also was that person that liked a new outfit each time I went out. Going out around 3 times a week can therefore get quite pricey. But considering I have never been a big drinker, I justified spending less on buying more outfits. And plus, I lined up work before even getting to uni, my job at Manchester United waitressing certainly helped keep me out of my overdraft. I did shop online on eBay, I also shopped in Primark and I even bought things second hand from charity shops, or online via ASOS Marketplace, Depop and eBay. We also shared outfits a lot with each other allowing us to change up our outfit each night whilst keeping to a tight budget!

I have recently achieved a few major milestones with my new Youtube channel recently, I reached my next thousand count, now at more than 3000 subscribers! I also surpassed the 100,000 view count on my videos. I celebrated my 2nd blog birthday by launching my Youtube channel in May and I'm so grateful and happy of growing the channel to wear it is already! I have big plans for the future with my Youtube channel and I honestly feel like I'm living the dream doing what I love! You may have read in a previous post how from September I will be increasing my uploading schedule to 3 videos a week, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm and Sundays at 11am. I will continue to upload to my blog twice a week and think it's important to not forget the platform I originally started out on!

So in short, I wanted to give back whilst my channel is at the stage where I can still communicate with everyone and gift a few people at the same time! If you have not seen my last video, it's an eBay haul with everything under £10 - one of my favourite student styling tricks to save money. One of the items I got were these sunglasses. I bought myself both a black and silver pair and was so impressed with the quality that I bought 2 more of each style to send to 4 subscribers!

If you haven't already entered, here's what you gotta do! Good Luck!

1. Subscribe to my Youtube channel.
2. Comment on the video (click here to view) whether you’d prefer the black or the silver pair of sunglasses.
3. Open internationally and closes 18th of August.

Off the Shoulder Bardot Style

A recent trend that seems to have featured everywhere this Summer has been the off the shoulder style Bardot tops and dresses. If you have watched my haul videos recently on Youtube, you may have noticed the trend appearing a few times in my collection. Inspired by a Farfetch style article, I decided to share my love for this hot new trend and reasons why I think it's a must in every girls wardrobe! So here are some of my top tips for styling off the shoulder tops...

S H I M M E R

So whenever I wear my off the shoulder Bardot style I always like to apply a shimmer highlight across my collar bone and on my shoulders. My current new favourite highlight to use is the Iconic London Illuminator Drops. They are perhaps a little on the steep side for beauty at around £30 for 10ml however a little goes a very long way with this product!

C O L L A R  B O N E

In my opinion, I have always loved nothing more than an exposed collar bone. I honestly believe that anything strapless is far sexier than exposing any other part of the body. Perhaps it's just my figure and confidence with getting my collar bone out rather than my legs, but even on other girls, I think it's so sexy and yet so understated. I love it!

T A N

A pet peeve of mine is getting tan lines. I try to avoid it at all costs and when, on those very rare occasions, we get beautiful weather in the North of England, I love having an off the shoulder piece. For the colder but sunny days, I'll wear a Bardot shirt paired with simple jeans. When it's a little warmer, I'll opt for an off the shoulder summer dress. Complete with sandals and a small bag with my shades on my head, I'm set to go!

F A V O U R I T E S

Here are some of my favourite Bardot style off the shoulder pieces that I have been loving recently. Click the image to shop! Let me know your favourite and what you think of this trend. Do you love off the shoulder as much as me?

HD Eyebrows and LVL Lashes Review

On my Youtube channel today, I uploaded a VLOG style video bringing you along to the salon with me! Having booked in for several treatments in preparation for my holiday to Barbados, I thought it might be interesting to show you the different processes of each treatment. You can view the video here and in the meantime, I have detailed below more in depth my thoughts on each treatment. The salon I go to is in a small village in Lancashire called Barrowford and it is called All About the Sparkle

RRP: £31

AVERAGE DURATION: 30-45 minutes

PROCESS: Starting by lying down on your back, the hot chocolate scented wax is applied in sections on your shins, knees and thighs, and removed with strips. After the front of both legs have been fully waxed, you're then advised to turn over, lie on your front and the backs of the legs are then finished off.

THOUGHTS: I love the finish of a leg wax. If you saw my recent video on Youtube all about my body hair removal experience, you would know that ordinarily I epilate my legs. However, I find it incredibly difficult to epilate my thighs and would usually leave the hair above my knees. However, when going on holiday, I like to book in for a full leg wax as a treat, knowing that most days on the beach and beside the pool, my legs will be on show.

RRP: £28

PROCESS: HD Brows requires a patch test which can be collected from your salon and done at home 48 hours prior to your treatment. The 7 step process involves a consultation, tint, wax, trim, thread, tweeze and then aftercare. The technician measures out your brows and aims to get your desired look all whilst completing the session with makeup fill in.

THOUGHTS: I was a little sceptical at first as I didn't want my brows to be reduced in size but in fact, enlarged. I didn't think this was possible, hence why I have never had anything done to my brows before. Nevertheless, I ended up walking out with thicker looking brows than I did walking in and for that, I would recommend the treatment. I don't think it will be a treatment I use on a regular basis, simply because of the lack of re-growth of my natural brow. That being said, when next booking in for a pre-holiday pamper session, I would have the treatment done again.

RRP: £50

AVERAGE DURATION: 45 minutes -1 hour

PROCESS: The LVL Lash Lift requires a patch test which can be done in your salon the week before your treatment. Lashes are straightened at the root and given the effect of longer looking lashes. A strip is set on the eye lid ready for the special adhesive to lift the lashes. Lashes are then tinted to give the effect of mascara being applied when in fact there is no makeup involved. The images look a little scary but I felt totally relaxed throughout the whole process with my eyes closed and each step is timed which break up the 45 minute waiting time. If you were contact lenses like me, I'd recommend taking them out before hand which I did and was glad I remembered!

THOUGHTS: With a recommend duration of 6-8 weeks, this is the perfect pre-holiday treatment. I could not believe how incredible the results were from the LVL lash lift and would highly recommend it to anyone! It's a pricier treatment and for that reason and that reason alone, I would not have this done every time, but merely before trips away when there will be times without makeup. For me personally the results are so great because I naturally have fairer lashes despite them being quite long and there is also not much of a natural curl to them. I cannot recommend this treatment enough and encourage you all to book in NOW!

RRP: £25

PROCESS: Any polish or previous shellac is first removed. Nails are then filed and shaped to your liking. A cuticle cream is applied to soften he cuticles before clipping them off. A base coat is applied followed by 2-3 coats of your preferred CND Shellac polish colour, I chose 'Cocoa' this time. each coat is dried under an LED lamp then a final top coat locks the colour in place. Finally, lint papers removes any unwanted excess particles and some cuticle oil is applied for moisture and care.

THOUGHTS: The main benefit to using Shellac polish for me, is the quick-drying time. Gone are the days of having to pay in advance to avoid smudging your nails by getting your purse out your bag. I also long how long they last (2-3 weeks) making them perfect for when going away. For me, I also find they strengthen my nails, as long as they are removed properly, when the shellac is actually on, that extra thickness prevents my nails from breaking.

If you have any questions regarding any of the treatments, feel free to head over to my Youtube channel, watch the video and leave comments. I will aim to answer everybody's questions so just get in touch!
