NARS Halloween Smokey Red Eye Makeup Look - and NARS freebies!

With only one month left to go until Halloween, I wanted to share a makeup look by NARS which was demonstrated at their latest blogger event. NARS always incorporates a pop of colour into each and every makeup look, and this time it was RED! A colour that has to be very carefully mastered in order to pull it off without looking like you have woken up from a heavy night with no sleep!

The lovely and very talented NARS makeup artists from Selfridges Exchange Square in Manchester used red in this makeup look which I thought could be a great way to incorporate red into a subtle Halloween Makeup Look.

Of course, like all the blogger events they hold, we were spoilt with unlimited Prosecco and free NARS makeup! The sample sized make up products we were lucky to receive included:
- NARS Blush in Orgasm
- NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dolce Vita
- NARS Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base
- NARS Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Black
- NARS Lipgloss in Orgasm
- NARS Skin Optimal Brightening Concentrate

I also treated myself to a limited edition 'Blame It On NARS' cheek palette, complete with the infamous ITA Kabuki Makeup brush - the brush alone is priced at £41. So for the palette to cost £45 it was well worth the investment. The colours included within the palette are Bronzing Powder in Casino; Highlighting Blush in Satellite of Love; Blush in Day Dream; Blush in New Attitude.

Lastly, I am yet to find a red lipstick that works well for my skin tone...until now! The Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella is the perfect deep red and long-lasting lipstick that does not budge! I'm really impressed with it and so glad I found it. Priced at just £19, I feel this will last me a long time and well worth the investment!

What's your favourite NARS product?

Jessica Bakes Well Triple Chocolate Cookie Mix in a Jar

Feeling peckish? I certainly am whilst writing this blogpost! Manchester often has food festivals with a variety of stalls with foods of all kinds. This is one of my favourite ways to eat as you get the opportunity to try lots of different things and at almost every stall you can try a bite before you buy. What's more, all the companies have a story behind the brand; family owned, freshly baked this morning etc etc etc...

One stall in particular, is perfectly suited to someone like myself; like the idea of baking, hate the mess and clean-up. Well this company do it for you. With a wide range of recipes, and all the ingredients pre-measured, all you need to do is mix!

Here are some pictures from our experience of baking with Jessica's Triple Chocolate Cookies in a Jar...

No chocolate for dogs! Sorry Ralph!

Batiste Stylist New Collection Review

I first discovered Batiste's Dry Shampoo when I was in school at about age 16. Ever since then, I start to panic when I have no spare cans in my possession. That's how obsessed I am with it! Since they first brought out the original, many varieties have been released, most of which I have tried. When I realised the new collection of hair products to complement their vast dry shampoo range this summer, of course I wanted to give them a go!

Batiste have released 5 new products, exclusive to Boots, at £4.49 each. I bought mine from Boots store on Market Street in Manchester at an introductory offer of £2 each however Boots are always offering discounts such as 3 for 2 so keep your eye out!

The new 5 piece range consists of:
1) Batiste Stylist Smooth It Frizz Tamer (200ml)
2) Batiste Stylist Hold Me Hairspray (300ml)
3) Batiste Stylist Oomph My Locks XXL Volume Spray (200ml)
4) Batiste Stylist Shield My Locks Heat & Shine Spray (200ml)
5) Batiste Stylist Texture Me Texturizing Spray (200ml)

Here's my view...

The Batiste Stylist Shield My Locks Heat & Shine Spray was ideal for protection from both the sun as well as my curlers/straighteners on a recent trip away to Crete. I would only recommend putting the products primarily on the ends.

The Batiste Stylist Texture Me Texturizing Spray was also another great addition to my hair product collection for holiday. I took this with me each to the beach to lightly spray on my hair to finish that 'beach wave' look. However I would use the product on my hair in the evenings after washing my hair as the feel of it wasn't that great. It definitely made a difference to the beach look during the day. I feel this product would also last a while.

The Batiste Stylist Hold Me Hairspray was great for evenings after styling my hair. I also forgot to take my makeup setting spray so also used it to lightly set my makeup in the evenings. However as far as hairsprays go, it's hard to compare as there is so much competition.

All in all, I am impressed, especially with the texturizing spray, but its still the original Dry Shampoo that will remain the holy grail product in my product collection.

Let me know if you have tried any of these products and what your thoughts are.

NARS Autumn Makeup Look Demonstration in Selfridges Manchester

It's no surprise that one of the great perks of blogging is getting invited to makeup events. NARS is fast becoming, if not already, one of my favourite makeup brands. Therefore I was delighted when they invited me to their Autumn/Winter 2015 makeup look demonstration complete with champagne and free makeup and of course, blogger socialising!

The look featured a brown and burnt orange smokey eye complete with a deep vampy lip. The contour was not too intense but more bronzed and highlighted with the main focus being all about the eyes. I love this eye look, it is my 'go to' look for a night out in Manchester as the colours complement blue eyes to make them pop. If the deep brown lip is too intense, the NARS makeup artists recommend a nude lip but either way, trends say to keep it matte. This is exactly what their Matte Lip collection aim to achieve.

The free goody bag included a mini 'Pricilla' Lip Gloss and a mini 'Orgasm' blush. If you have any other questions regarding the products used, please feel free to ask!
