Netflix and Chill?

No, not in the Urban Dictionary sense, I mean actually Netflix and chill with me as I share some of my top picks to watch on Netflix for these cosy and festive winter nights in...

1. Fargo
Having recently been watching Shaaanxo's vlogs on Youtube to see that she loves the Fargo series, my boyfriend and I also thought we'd give the series Fargo a try and we both love it too! We are 5 episodes in to Season 1 and so far so good! Based on true events and inspired from the movie of the same title, this is a crime series with lots of twist and turns in the plot leaving you guessing whilst at the same time witnessing who does what.

2. Orange is the New Black
This is a series I started to watch a long time ago, and it's very addictive. Watching series' back to back is the best way forward in my opinion and with it available on Netflix this and Fargo are definitely the one's I'd recommend. This series is more light hearted following a woman who gets put in prison for having been an unintentional accomplice to a drug transporting crime, set up by her girlfriend. Turmoil, lesbian relations and eccentric characters make this a weird and wonderful series that you can't seem to stop watching.

3. Home Alone
A Christmas classic that I watch every year is available and I don't think I'll ever get bored of it. With no need to really explain what the film is about, it's safe to say everyone should watch this light-hearted family comedy this Christmas.

4. Monsters University
A great follow up from the original is now available on Netflix; it tells the story of how Sulley and Mike Wazowski went through the Monster University's elite Scare Program with a selection of mis-fit monsters to become champions.

5. Chalet Girl
This is a seasonal favourite if you are looking for an easy watch, something to put on whist starting the Christmas dinner. It doesn't require your full attention but s just a nice and easy watch that makes you smile.

6. Jingle All the Way
Again, another Christmas classic telling the tale of a father who goes on an eventful journey to find the toy his son is after for Christmas.

7. Planet Earth and Frozen Planet
An all year around favourite for me are documentaries - but only the ones told by David Attenborough. Several episodes of Planet Earth tell epic stories and follow the lives of the wilderness. My favourite episodes at this time of year are from the Frozen Planet series.

One I want to try....

....Luther. Having seen a quick sneak peek on Channel 4's Gogglebox, I think it looks quite good! Have you seen Luther? What are your thoughts?

Brand Focus - ESPA

I have recently written a blogpost reviewing The Hydradermie Facial by Guinot (click here to read) and upon my visit, the lovely ladies at All about the Sparkle Beauty Salon located in Barrowford, Lancashire, were kind enough to gift me with some sample sized products to try by the brand ESPA.

Initially I wasn't going to do a blogpost on them however it's so rare that I am given sample sized products that I actually then purchase the full sized product. I was so impressed by a couple of them that I wanted to share my thoughts with my readers.

I was kindly gifted two goody bags full of treats, one was the ESPA Soothing Body Collection bag and the other was the ESPA Radiant Skin Collection bag. All of the products smell amazing, not too overpowering, quite light and luxurious. The Radiant has a great collection of cleansers, toner, mask and moisturiser; everything your need for a night time routine. However it was the Soothing bag that impressed me the most and inspired me to share this quick blogpost as I have fallen in love with two products in particular. I only had to try the Optimal Body TriSerum once to realise I would most likely be re-purchasing it. Perfect to use after a nice hot bath or shower, this oil really hydrates the skin without leaving an oily sensation and soaks in to the skin quickly to feel more silky than oily. Secondly, and this is a holy grail item that I can imagine I will be repurchasing forever, is the Naturally Radiant Gradual Tan. I have never found a tanning product that literally leaves no streaks or marks whatsoever. It smells like a luxurious moisturiser without even the slightest hint of a fake tan smell, and it really does leave a natural looking tan. I'm so impressed with these two products in particular, explore the ESPA range online and let me know your thoughts.

Brand Focus - Seventeen Cosmetics by Boots

Boots have done it again and been kind enough to send me some goodies from their make-up brand Seventeen. Here's what I thought of the four make-up palettes they sent me...

Palette 1: All out lip pout lip palette in Woo Me

What Seventeen says:  A collection of 6 rich satin, gloss & glitter shades with applicator, mirror & get the look guide. Let your lips do the talking with this collection of pout perfecting lipsticks! Choose to use our warm nudes, vivid orange, intense reds and lustrous metallic alone or mix together for truly individual shades. Also includes get the look and top tips guide & voucher for your next purchase with SEVENTEEN!

What I say: I'm not a fan of lip palettes, purely due to the fact that they are not very convenient on the go. I would say the same whether its a drug store or high-end brand. I do like the darker tones within this palette however the same can't be said for the clear glittery one. Unfortunately this just reminds me of what you would imagine finding in a children's play make up set.

Palette 2: All out lip pout lip palette in Fancy Free

What Seventeen says:  A collection of 6 rich satin, gloss & glitter shades with applicator, mirror & get the look guide. Let your lips do the talking with this collection of pout perfecting lipsticks. Choose to use our cool toned pastels, flirty pinks, bold purple or subtle glitter alone or mix together for truly individual shades. Also includes get the look guide & voucher for your next purchase with SEVENTEEN!

What I say: As mentioned above, I would never buy a lip palette as I love lipsticks far too much. The ease of taking them with you and re-applying throughout the day is more beneficial for me. Again I also prefer the darker colours but none of them are highly pigmented.

Palette 3: Easy on the eye eye shadow palette in Birthday Suit

What Seventeen says: A collection of 8 matte, shimmer & pearl powders, 3 metallic creams & eye primer with dual ended applicator, mirror and get the look guide. All eyes will be on you with this complementary collection of soft, natural shades. We've carefully matched effortlessly wearable shades with a range of finishes and textures so you can define, shade, contour and highlight your way to endless combinations of daytime to playtime looks. Also includes get the look guide and voucher for your next purchase with SEVENTEEN!

What I say: This is my favourite of the four palettes, I love the colour selection and it would be a great dupe for the Naked 3 palette. The pinky, rose tones and shimmer can create a soft and neutral look and a much more affordable alternative if you can't stretch your budget to Urban Decay prices. The pigmentation is the same but the lasting power, not as great unfortunately. In this instance though it is good value for money but you would need a top up to take the look from daytime into night time.

Palette 4: Easy on the eye eye shadow palette in The Big Smoke

What Seventeen says: A collection of 8 matte, shimmer & pearl powders, 3 metallic creams & eye primer with dual ended applicator, mirror and get the look guide. All eyes will be on you with this complementary collection of soft, smoky shades. We've carefully matched effortlessly wearable shades with a range of finishes and textures so you can define, shade, contour and highlight your way to endless combinations of daytime to playtime looks. Also includes get the look guide and voucher for your next purchase with SEVENTEEN!

What I say: This would be great for a night time smoky eye creation. The only thing that I'm not too keen on is the 4 cream eye shadows included within both eye palettes. I found they creased on me and I would rather use a high end base and then build the Seventeen eye shadows on top.

P.S. Don't forget to keep your eye out for when Boots offer 3 for 2 on all cosmetics!

What products do you like from SEVENTEEN?

Christmas Nails Using Glittter!

One of the most fun things for a girl like me to decide during the festive period is how to have your Christmas nails! In my opinion the best way to incorporate a bit of festivity on your nails is by using glitter! Here a few tips and tricks on how you can use glitter on your nails.

The Ring Finger
This year for our works black tie Christmas party I am wearing a black dress. Therefore I had quite a bit of flexibility when deciding how to have my Christmas nails. I have gone for a neutral mauve/pink colour on all 10 nails with one subtle coat of a gold champagne coloured glitter nail polish on my ring finger. Both the colour and glitter are shellac.

All Over Glitter
If you're not afraid to go all out, then why not use glitter all over your nails. You can do this by either sprinkling loose glitter onto a base coat of nail polish of your choice of colour  (but this can get messy). Or simply by using a couple of coats of your favourite glitter nail polish.

Glitter Tips
I love this look all year round either on just a couple of nails or on all of them. All you need to do is use your base coat in a colour of your choice to be the sticky base for the glitter. Then choose some loose glitter in a colour of your choice, dip a small, dry paint brush into the pot of glitter and hold it above the tip of your nail. Slightly tap and turn the paintbrush without it touching the wet nail and continue up the nail to as far as you want. Why not mix it up and use different coloured glitter on different nails!

Christmas Glitter Nail Art
If you are skilled enough or are getting your nails done by a professional, why not try one of these slightly more challenging Christmas nail art using glitter!

I'd love to see what your Christmas nails look like this year so tweet (@freyafarrington) and instagram (@freyafarrington1) your pictures using the hashtag #ChristmasNails!

MCR Fashion Industry - A Night of Gothic Romance

Considering the majority of my wardrobe is black and lace, this is potentially one of my best-suited party themes that the MCR Fashion Industry has hosted so far. Yet again, they pulled off a great fashion show and star-studded after party (hosted by The Milton Club) that was a huge success and all over the front pages the next day. Each party seems to go bigger and better than the last and I think this was my favourite one yet.

The venue? San Carlo Fumo, one of my favourite recent additions to Manchester and the perfect place to host the numerous fashionistas, celebs and bloggers. The catwalk took place down the centre of the restaurant, perfect for those who bought dining tickets as they were able to watch front row!

As for the outfits on display, competition was incredibly tough this season with some going all out and others, like myself, a little more toned down with a 'hint of lace' and of course, all black everything! My black lace bodice is from H&M, leather black trousers from Zara, my over the knee black suede boots are from River Island and I paired it all with a silver body chain you can find on eBay.

For my makeup, I was going to do a deep vampy red however at the minute I am loving a matte brown lip. I paired it with a cool-toned smokey eye, pop of glitter (metallics by Revolution, a new drugstore favourite of mine influenced by the beautiful Shaaanxo) and plenty of cool toned contour and highlight.

I was excited to get there and be presented with an exclusive blogger goodybag, complete with a few surprises including skin and beauty samples, a pair of socks and even a MCR Fashion Industry branded Beer!

Congratulations to everyone involved who made this event the success it was and I can't wait for the next!

The Hydradermie Treatment Facial by Guinot

I was kindly invited down by the lovely girls at All About the Sparkle Beauty Salon in Barrowford, Lancashire to try out the Hydradermie Treatment, and who would say no to a complimentary facial!

Having recently tried the Microdermabrasion Facial at Pure Clinic (read my review here), I was keen to compare the results. In terms of the actual treatment of the Hydradermie facial, it lasted an hour and was more relaxing than the Microdermabrasion facial. There was also an arm, neck and shoulder massage that wasn't included within the Microdermabrasion facial.

The microdermabrasion facial was more exfoliating whereas the Hydradermie treatment was deeper penetration with a gel to suit your skin requirements. I had the brightening and lightening gel to get more of a dewy, young fresh looking skin.

Both facials used a mechanical machine however the Hydradermie one was virtually silent compared to the crystal microdermabrasion machine. The Hydradermie machine did tingle a bit and the Microdermabrasion machine was far louder. That's the main difference in terms of why the Hydradermie facial felt more relaxing and neither were at all painful or intrusive.

So in terms of results, It has been almost a week since my treatment and I'm already noticing my skin looks and feels fresher, younger and healthier. If you are local to the Manchester/Lancashire region I'd highly recommend stopping by at All About the Sparkle, and the staff are lovely! Visit their website for more details and don't forget to like their Facebook page to keep up to date with all their latest offers and promotions!

Whilst I was there I also picked up a few Revitalash goodies...review soon?

Christmas is Coming - The Top Beauty Advent Calendars for 2015

My favourite time of the year, CHRISTMAS!!! And as any beauty lover will know, the Christmas Advents Calendars are far more exciting with beauty products as opposed to chocolate, let's face it, I eat chocolate most days anyway.

So it's November and yes I have already made my first few christmas purchases. I can't be the only who to start early...? Why wait for a mad rush to buy everything Christmas Eve with a stressful and impulse purchasing session where little thought goes into your gift. As told wonderfully by this years John Lewis #ManOnTheMoon advert, I see Christmas as a time for giving and treating those you love with thoughtful and sentimental gifts and anyone who loves me can't go wrong with beauty products.

This year I have the Selfridges Cosmic Beauty Advent Calendar priced at £95.

Here are some of the best Christmas beauty advent calendars for 2015:

- Selfridges Beauty Workshop Advent Calendar £60

- Yankee Candle Advent Calendars £24.99-£31.99
